DMLSS 3.0 Installation and Deployment
Support. In the 3rd phase of DMLSS, Metrica personnel have again
been selected for their technical expertise and extensive DMLSS
deployment knowledge to provide hardware and systems support to
approximately 152 military sites (80 Air force, 37 Army, and 35
Navy sites). Sites are located worldwide, including the Middle East
and 2 Naval hospital ships. Metrica continues to install all servers
and peripherals, including military compliant wireless devices and
PDAs. Training of System Administrators at each site, installation
of all DMLSS client and related peripheral software, and on-site
technical support to the Service Deployment Teams throughout the
"go live" date are provided. Coordination with data conversion staff
and wireless technology experts as well as network and systems staff
at the site is a vital component of the Metrica personnel's role.
Metrica provides follow-up hardware installation reports to the
site and to the program office and maintains and provides equipment
configuration documents to the site support staff and to the DMLSS
help desk.
DMLSS 2.0 Army Deployment Support.
Metrica provided project management, technical support, and
functional user training for Army DMLSS 2.0 deployments for five
Army medical treatment facilities in the Continental United States
and Europe. Users and system administrators provided training on
making DMLSS 2.0 work within the logistics operation of customer
areas such as the pharmacy, laboratory, operating rooms, and optical
clinics. New functional capabilities such as ECAT, purchase cards,
point of use systems, and RF technology were implemented. Coordination
for penetration of firewalls and secure routers was accomplished
and network interfaces established with the Defense Automated Addressing
System (DAAS) for passage of supply and financial transactions.
DMLSS 2.0 Installation and Deployment
Support Services. Metrica provided the personnel and technical
expertise necessary to deploy, train, and implement the DMLSS Release
2.0 software at approximately 61 military sites throughout the world.
Sites are located in the continental United States, as well as Europe,
the Far East, Alaska, and Hawaii. Metrica utilized the team's extensive
DMLSS deployment knowledge to effectively meet the program's goals
for the 2.0 DMLSS software deployment schedule. Metrica support
included the installation of the hardware (both production and training),
connectivity of peripherals, and training of System Administrators
at each site or at designated training facilities. Additionally,
Metrica provided on-site technical support to the Service Deployment
Teams and packed and shipped the training hardware at the conclusion
of each site's deployment.
DMLSS 1.03 Installation and Deployment
Support. Metrica provided technical support and system administration
training to approximately 38 Air Force Medical treatment facilities,
and 40 Army Medical Treatment Facilities in the deployment of DMLSS
1.03. Services provided included the addition of hard drives to Data
General Servers, load of the operating system (DGUX), load of the
database management system (Informix), and load of the application
(DMLSS 1.03). Client software was loaded on DMLSS workstations via
the DMLSS load process. Training was provided on system administration,
System Services, Prime Vendor Interface, CAIM, and Customer Support.
In addition to the upgrade of the Data General Servers, approximately
40 NT Servers were installed. Network problems including penetration
of Base firewalls, and secure routers were arranged through network
security personnel in the Air Force and Army. |

Metrica has supported the U.S. Army
Medical Command in the development of a preliminary Functional Economic
Analysis (FEA) for the OSD/Health Affairs office of a migration
system for Medical Human Resources. MEDCOM had been developing a
replacement for their existing UCAPERS, which they had named DMHRS.
DMHRS was being considered as one of the candidates for the migration
system, which would replace what the three services were currently
using for legacy systems, including the chief alternative candidate
the Navy's SPMS. Metrica provided the DMHRS FEA, and supplied much
needed functional analysis to the DMHRS project. Metrica was also
responsible for identifying and solving the interface issues required
for DMHRS to successfully interface with the Personnel System used
by each of the three military services. In addition Metrica provided
assistance to the COTR of the DMHRS development project in solving
some of the management problems that had arisen with regards to
the schedule of deployment for DMHRS.

The purpose of Army Medical Department
Property Accounting System (AMEDDPAS) is to provide the Army Medical
Department and other authorized Table of Distribution and Allowances
(TDA) activities with a comprehensive automated system to manage
property.
AMEDDPAS provided the capability to
plan for, acquire, account for, and maintain property. The Property
Manager achieved accountability for property, on real-time basis,
by interfacing directly with a menu-driven, interactive, database
management system. The system enabled users to manage hand-receipt
and loaned property and to perform inventory of equipment by using
scanning devices to read bar code labels.
This inventory was accomplished using
the Non Radio Frequency Hand Held terminal (NonRF-HHT). AMEDDPAS
also provided for the management of equipment maintenance, replacement,
and modernization.
Metrica personnel provided the help
desk support for this system.
