This set of control cards provides a record of what background data was collected from each individual responding to the CODAP survey. Each title should be as complete as possible and include as much information as space permits. This includes a description of the data collected for the variable and if possible the range of responses allowed. It should be remembered however that each title must fit on one card in the space allowed. The first title must always be 'V0001 Case Control Number' because this variable is generated by the CODAP system. The INPSTD program will generate a format specification suitable for printing the background responses and append the generated format to the background title in the Case Data file. After INPSTD has been run and a Case Data file exists, the program DICTXX can be used to obtain a listing of these background variable titles. The following describes the form required for these cards:
V: cc 01-01 The literal 'V' xxxx: cc 02-05 The 4 digit sequence number for the background variable. def: cc 07-80 This area must contain the entire title for this background variable.
This set of cards must be in sequence and 1 card must exist for each background variable. To check these cards for any errors, missing titles, or out of sequence titles the AUDITV program should be run.
